Right Standards For Fencing

ALL private pools need an effective pool fence.
It is not only a matter of law, but one of common sense for people who want to ensure they have taken all necessary precautions to make the pool area safe.
Many drownings occur because of the absence of an effective pool fence or gate.
Sometimes the gate is not closed or is propped open for some reason.
Other times the fence needs repairing.
The fence and gate surrounding of a backyard pool must meet the Australian Standards for Pool Fencing and Pool Gates.
The fence must extend around all four sides of the pool.
It must be at least 1.2metres high and must not have any horizontal footholds.
The pool gate must be self-closing and self-latching.
Pool owners should regularly check their pool fence and gate to ensure they are effective.
