HOW TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL FRANCHISE AND REALLY HIT THE JACKPOT

While demand spirals out of control for the services offered by Jim’s Fencing, the business is facing a difficult time because of a lack of franchisees.

Jim’s Fencing franchisee Dean Watson said they simply couldn’t keep up with consumer demand and hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of business was going begging right now.

“During a recent marketing campaign, we received an additional 500 new leads, most of which could not be serviced because there just aren’t the franchisees available to do the work,” said Mr Watson.

“It really is a financial bonanza waiting for a new business owner to come and clean up,” he said.

“I literally hit the jackpot nine years ago when I decided to buy my own Jim’s Fencing business.”

“I’d been working for a drilling manufacturer in Canning Vale but wanted to do something different.”

“I’d had enough of the shift work and missing out on family time with my young kids.”

“I made a couple of phone calls to different franchises and found the one that I thought seemed most suited to me.”

“My wife wasn’t so sure and she told me that if I won lotto he could give up work and buy a franchise.”

    “So, I did.”

“I won just over six thousand dollars and knew it was a sign.”

    “Luckily my wife agreed.”

“Since then we haven’t looked back.”

“We earn a six figure income after tax and we have a great work-life balance.”

Mr Watson said it was important for new business owners to do all their homework and due diligence before getting into a business:

    · Ensure that the business is right for you. Is it something you will enjoy doing?

    · Some franchises are better than others – speak to franchisees and ask their thoughts on it.

    · Do a trial in the new business – work in the store or get on the tools. Give it a try.

    · Investigate brand strength, support (when you start and ongoing) and the business systems.

Mr Watson, now also a regional franchisor, said he had franchises ready to go for suitable business owners, all of which have a Work Availability Guarantee of $1800.00 per week.

Jim’s Fencing is part of the Jim’s Group, which has a 94 per cent brand recognition rate in the Australian population and has been operating for over 10 years. Jim’s Group has been around for approximately 25 years and has over 3,200 Franchisees across Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Canada. The Jim’s Group is recognised as the world’s largest home services franchise.
